In loving memory of Leonard James Chamberlain who sadly passed away on 28th Augustst 2017
CHAMBERLAIN Leonard James (Len)
10 June 1937 – 28 Augustst 2017
Len died peacefully at Anam Cara Bray Park after a long residency because of Alzheimer’s Disease. This sad situation is aptly called ‘The Long Farewell’ and he and his family have been on this journey with Len since his diagnosis in 2009 and for two investigative years prior to this.
Len was Headworks Engineer at North Pine Water Treatment Plant at Joyner from 1977 to 1997.He enjoyed six years of retirement before he and Kaaren ventured into the world of on-site property management. This was a big change for both of them but one which they enjoyed greatly until Len was not able to continue his active role as caretaker at Albany Vista at Albany Creek. Len has been in residential care at Anam Cara since 2011. Len will be sadly missed by many friends and his family of two daughters, Stephanie and Louisa and their partners and by two grandchildren, Amy and Lyam.
The family are very grateful to all the staff members at Anam Cara who had any part in Len’s care over all these years. He could not have been better cared for than he was at Anam Cara. Thank you for your personal and understanding compassion towards Len in these last years of his life.
A Memorial Service for Len will be held at the Meeting Place at Anam Cara on Friday 1 September 2017 at 1.30 pm. In place of flowers, a donation to Alzheimer’s Australia would be helpful for research into this insidious disease. Thank you
