In loving memory of Mervyn Sheffy Mohammed Deen who sadly passed away on 8th April 2017
DEEN Mervyn Sheffy Mohammed “Merv”
Originally from Cooran Queensland and late of Jamboree Heights.
Merv unexpectedly drove his train into the sunset from his home on Saturday the 8th April 2017 at the tender age of just 83 years.
Merv has now re-joined the love of his life and soul mate Leila who passed before him. He will also be sadly missed by his loving children Winton, Gregory, Kathleen, Margaret, Helene and their partners.
Merv, or Grandad as he was better known will also be deeply missed by his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren who will always remember him for his constant teasing, tickles and loving advice.
To honour Merv’s profession as a Train Driver please read the “Train Drivers Epitaph”
My engine now is cold and still
No water does my boiler fill
My coal affords its flame no more
My days of usefulness are o’er.
My wheels deny their running speed
No more my guiding hand they heed
My whistle too has lost its tone
Its shrill and thrilling sounds are gone.
My valves are now thrown open wide
My flanges all refuse to guide
My clacks also, though once so strong
Refuse to aid the busy throng.
No more I feel each surging breath
My steam is now condensed in death
Life’s railway over each station past
In death I’m stopped and rest at last.
Farewell all dear friends and cease to weep
In Christ I’m safe, in Him I sleep.
