Robert Michael Lardelli

My beautiful dad – Robert Michael Lardelli passed quickly without suffering close to midnight on 13 March 2022. He was 81. Married three times – he leaves behind his sister Joy who he has lived with and cared for in the last 20 years, his children Michael and Peter to his first marriage to Elve (deceased), my brother Kane and I to his second marriage to our mother Carlia and his three stepchildren, Raylene, Zoe and their brother to his third and final marriage to Olga. (Deceased) He was born in Winton on 29 June 1940 to Valentine Fairfax (cane cutter) and Daphne Amy Taylor (nurse). He was removed from his mother at an early age and raised by a distant relative in Wollongong. As was his wish – his ashes will be spread in Bynoe Harbour on the Cox Peninsula.  Until he died he had always wanted to join again with his last wife, Olga. Their relationship ended with her sudden and tragic passing in 1989. I have asked my Aunt to describe how she remembers him, having lived with him and who is now alone. What will she miss the most and what will she miss the least.  What my aunt will miss the least is that he always thought he was right. What she will miss the most is everything – having shared everything for the last 20 years. I am going to miss everything about him too. I have asked my husband, Dom, to also write something about my Dad. Bob had an eventful and colourful life, always keeping the road less travelled, forging a sharp intellect, mostly from experience, along the way.  Bob was a self-taught poet. His work, inspired by his experiences in the Top End is pithy, insightful and often sublime. He qualified as a genuine character”. Our family is diminished by his passing.
Britt Conidi (nee Lardelli)

In accordance with Robert’s wished he will be privately cremated
