I have known Poona since our days at Mehodist Mission Primary School in Namosau, Ba. We went on to Xavier College, Ba for four years and then to Natabua HighSchool where we passed our NZ University Entrance, next to Suva Grammar School, Suva for our our Upper Sixth Form class, preparatory class for University. We lived at the hostel at the Nasinu Training College for the year. We then proceeded to University. Poona and I shared a flat for two years. Hence I know Poona very well and our kinship grew over the years to almost a brotherly relationship. Poona was an A Grade student. He had an exceptional character and was a most worthy friend. He cared enormously for social justice. I moan his death immensely. Sorry Poona that I cannot be there this day because of circumstances but I will visit your dear wife and family soon to pay my enormous respect for you.

We can in our minds recollect the sweet smile that endeared him to people around him. We enjoyed his company. He had a way with children specially the grand kids who adored him absolutely.

A good friend. A good conversationalist. An intellectual. Listened to opposite point of view. I had some delightful time with him. Someone I will miss. May his soul march on to greatness beyond the earthly life. Good bye my friend.
