Jean, Grant(chippa) , Craig from a long time friend and fellow hockey enthusiast. Jean from when I was a young player and met you and Keith I have always admired and loved the way you guys appreciated life. Schnapps was always a mentor and confidante to me . From the days of standing on the hill at Qe2 with chippa & Craig and talking hockey , discussing coaching with Keith to saying hullo at commercials at finsbury, he will be missed.Great man , tough bastard , elite coach, a really good family to know. Will miss listening to his arguments with ‘boy’ josiffe and having a quiet ale & talking life . RIP mate & cheers
Sincere condolences to Jean,Grant,Craig and families.
I enjoyed a close bond with Keith as coach over many years , particularly with Commercial initially. Keith’s total commitment, work ethic and attention to detail was instrumental in building a winning culture/premierships. Keith also coached Brisbane and Queensland teams with similar results.
We had a special friendship beyond those days up till Keith’s recent passing. Jean was understanding and supportive throughout. I valued my connection with Keith dearly.
Dear Jean/Craig & Grant.
So fortunate to have spent so many hours with him over the last 28 years in Brisbane. I will always emphasise the fact that he touched and assisted so many many young men over so so many years in sport which gave all the ones he reached a massive advantage. He was so so honest, upbeat and positive. I am not talking about winning or losing. I mean giving his time, knowledge & advising on what true hard work can produce. ALWAYS pulled the best out of everyone if he could. If you hadn’t been coached or mentored in some way by Schnapps you have been unlucky. I, along with hundreds of others feel grateful to have had him close to me, even better being in 2 codes. My 1st game of golf 28 years ago in 1994 when he was 59 years of age along with Mal Anderson & Dennis Draper at our beloved Keperra. What a privilege to have been with those three men. He always said to me “KCGC was the best kept secret in golf, don’t tell anyone”. The reason we met though in the beginning was his primary sport, Hockey. He was the first person to collect me for training in Australia in 94 & we drove to QE2 stadium. He was with me for my 1st game at Valley before he put me back in Res Grade, as I couldn’t run up the 15th hole quick enough. I always felt I let him down a little as my best hockey days were over at 27, despite playing a further 16 seasons at VHC. Of course though he loved his family so much. He got so much out of Noah and Flynn, he simply adored them. Thinking of you Jean/ Chippa & Craig and all your family.
❤❤❤ RIP… the most honest of all competitors and a true gentleman.
All our love… Ed, Ilka and Issy xxx
