The family is saddened to announce that Maureen passed away at age 85 of natural causes, whilst at the Mater Hospital on Saturday 15th August 2026.
Though her passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her, the love she gave so generously, and the memories she created, will always be remembered. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and always carried in the hearts of those who knew her.
Maureen leaves behind the love of her life, her husband John, as well as her 3 loving children: Bruce (+ wife Kendell), Janeen (+ husband John), Keren (+ partner Murray) and 7 beloved Grandchildren: Kathleen, Rachel, Jason, Ian, Simon, Madeline and Martin, plus 2 Great-Grandchildren, Laura & Emma.
Maureen’s family would especially like to thank the team at Ozcare Bakhita Villa Aged Care Home (Oxley), for their dedicated support to Maureen during her nearly 2 years of stay, plus their continued care and consideration for John at this difficult time.
Maureen’s family warmly invite all her relatives to attend her celebration of life service, that will be held in the viewing room of Academy Funerals, Unit 3, Number 4 Jacques Court, Lawnton on
Tuesday 25th of August 2026, commencing at 4:00pm.
Limited capacity at this venue means others may join upon request.
After the service and in accordance with her wishes, Maureen will be taken for a private cremation.

An interment service will be held at Beresfield, Newcastle, NSW with greater capacity for family and friends, in early to mid-October. Further details of which will be advised when available.
