Michael (aka Mike) Raiteri
It is with heavy hearts that we publicise that Mike passed away peacefully at Greenslopes hospital, Tuesday, August 19th. Fortunately, and in line with his wishes, no plug needed to be pulled and his body simply surrendered while he was surrounded by his closest family, including his wife Sheri of almost 46 years, and their three sons Brent, Shane & Justin. Mike made a point of defying the odds and far outlived the 60 years of age he was predicted to last, making it to 72 years, the same age as his Mum (Stefanina). Oddly enough, he also passed away on his Mum’s birthday, who he must be celebrating with now, alongside his Dad (Carlo, 81 years) and late brother (Carlo, also 81 years).
Mike was a loving brother to Stella, Carlo, Tony & Virginia, husband, father and Nonno to Ella, Lily, Henri, Georgia & Harriet, and we will always remember his no-regrets attitude and the way his face would light up when a familiar face entered the room. Mike simply loved life and this attitude allowed him to conquer many difficulties and to be a role model for those around him. We will try our best to live life with this attitude in his honour and to communicate to his grandkids and future generations what a special man he was.
Regardless of how well you knew Mike, you probably know that he loved to tell a good story. With his physical absence, we would like to invite all of his friends and relatives to share their own stories about him and to celebrate his life at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 3rd at St Oliver Plunkett Church, Cannon Hill (21 Beauvardia Street, Cannon Hill QLD 4170).
