Born in 1940, in Asolo -Treviso Italy, Miranda was the sixth child of Chiara and Giacinto Luigi Ceccato who had nine children. Miranda grew up on a country farm with a plentiful orchard and a provincial style of living. After Miranda’s father passed away in his mid 40s, the family decided to move to Australia and made the trip in 1956. Miranda joined her mother, Chiara and sisters Anna, Annette, Norma and brother Frank who met up with her brothers Jimmy, George and Joe who were working in Australia in the North Queensland cane fields to pave the way for the family to migrate and settle in Australia.

In 1959 Miranda met James Frederick Greensill, a gentleman from English/Irish heritage. They fell in love and married on 9 January 1960 at Corpus Christi Church, Nundah Brisbane. The newlywed couple spent their honeymoon at Ocean Grove, the Greensill family beach house in North Kirra, Gold Coast where many happy memories were made.

Miranda and Jimmy lived in the suburb of Mitchelton, Brisbane in the early years of their marriage and then move to the suburb of Grange, Brisbane to bring up their family. Miranda and Jimmy raised 5 children – Julie, Kathy, Mark, Steven and James at their Grange house. Miranda’s family prospered as she welcomed and adored her grandchildren – Daniel, Matthew, Chiara, Joel, Arianna, Grace, Josiah, Asher, Maria and Lily.

After Jimmy passed away, Miranda’s health suffered, and she decided to move to Rockhampton to be nearer to her children and grandchildren. Many happy and cherished memories were made, many big family Christmas’s were celebrated and many lasting friendships were formed – Miranda was dearly loved by all.

Miranda’s sisters and brothers, her nephews and nieces were always in her heart as was her great love for them. Miranda had a very deep faith in God and his great love for us; she shared this love with her children and grandchildren and all those she met. Miranda lived her life with purpose and love, looking forward to the day when she would see God face to face.

Miranda sadly passed away at Rockhampton Base Hospital on Sunday 28 April 2024.

Miranda is a beautiful name it fits perfectly as she is such a unusual soul . When we first met we just talked and talked, it was like we new each other for a long time. Her love of God her strength and faith was like a medicine to me. It looked like Miranda never had fear or worry . That is a sign of a true Christian. It was blessing being with her.It is written some people bring heaven down to earth and some are already up there before we realize . This is what I saw in January. Miranda was saying . I have faith in God I am ready what ever is coming my way.She can fit easily in heavenly places. We shared our secrets of Jesus coming soon.Jesus is coming. As the song say : we shall meet on a beautiful shore. So it is not Good bye-- but See you Miranda very soon. We can rejoice in the coming of Jesus and His Gift of salvation for all those who love Him.
