Richard David Martin
Late of Banyo.
Richard passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. He was 85 years of age.
Richard leaves behind the love of his life and soulmate, Shirley, along with his loving children John, Stephen, Ruth, and Allan, and their respective partners.
Richard or “Grandad,” as he was affectionately known—will be deeply missed by his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren (each of whom will remember him for his playful teasing, and loving advice).
He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends within the Scouting community, some of whom he may well have rejoined at the great Jamboree in the sky.
Richard’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff of The Prince Charles Hospital for the care and compassion shown to him, helping to make his final days as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Richard’s funeral service, to be held at the Scout Hall, 62 Flower Street, Northgate,
on Friday, 17 April 2026, commencing at 4:30 pm.
There will also be a Celebration of Life commencing at 6pm.
This is to be a happy occasion where people will be invited to tell stories (briefly) about their experiences with Richard.
For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed., with streaming commencing approximately 10 minutes prior to the service.
Please find below the link to the Memorial Gallery of Richard Martin, where family and friends can view the live stream of the service at 4:30 pm on Friday, 17 April 2026.
